Essence of the Charges
The statement regarding the non-payment of alimony was submitted to the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Moscow District on March 4, 2025, by a local resident who requested intervention concerning her ex-husband, N.S.
On January 19, the Moscow District Court found N.S. guilty under Article 178, Part 2 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic ("Evasion of parents from paying alimony based on a court decision for the maintenance of children or needy adults, with arrears exceeding 12 months") and sentenced him to one year of imprisonment in a general regime correctional facility. He was arrested immediately after the verdict was announced.
Outcome of the Proceedings
However, the second instance terminated the criminal case, as the victim withdrew her private and public recognition of her claims. As a result, the man was released from custody right in the courtroom.
