The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic has warned citizens about the undesirability of traveling to Iran and provided information on exit options for those already in the country.
Currently, many international airlines have temporarily suspended flights to and from Iran, which is accompanied by frequent changes in the schedule. If air travel is not possible, citizens may consider ground routes through neighboring countries," the Ministry reported.
Kyrgyz citizens can enter Armenia and Turkey without a visa.
To enter Turkmenistan, it is necessary to contact the Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic in that country in advance for assistance in obtaining an entry permit and transit visa.
As of January 16, 2026, border crossing points are open on the borders of Iran with Afghanistan and Iraq. If you wish to visit these countries, you need to apply for a visa in advance at the respective diplomatic missions.
The Ministry also recommends considering alternative routes for exit; however, it should be noted that the land borders of Iran with Pakistan and Azerbaijan are currently closed for crossing.
Kyrgyz citizens who require assistance in leaving Iran are requested to send the following information to the Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic in Iran or to the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs:
- Full name and contact details;
- A photo of the passport page with personal data;
- The intended border crossing point.
Citizens planning to travel to Iran in the near future are strongly advised to refrain from visiting until the situation normalizes.
