In his address, Borkeev, the husband of former deputy of the Jogorku Kenesh Irina Karamushkina, expressed his disagreement with the decision of the Bishkek City Court, which sentenced her to eight years in prison.

He emphasized that neither he nor Karamushkina's relatives can understand why the court issued such a verdict under the article on "hostage-taking." According to Borkeev, members of the special forces unit "Alpha," who were involved in those events, noted during the court session that they had no claims against Karamushkina and did not consider her guilty of the hostage-taking.

Borkeev also added that his wife had neither weapons nor the physical capability to carry out a hostage-taking. He reminded that President Sadyr Japarov had previously described the initial verdict of the district court as "too harsh," but emphasized that he does not intend to interfere with the work of the judicial authorities.

For reference, on October 23, the Bishkek City Court changed the sentence for Irina Karamushkina, imposing an eight-year prison term to be served in a general regime colony and confiscation of property. Meanwhile, the rest of the verdict of the Pervomaisky District Court remained in force.

Karamushkina was found guilty of "hostage-taking" during the events that took place in Koi-Tash.
