In Bishkek, a meeting took place between Adylbek Kasymaliev, the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic, and Matteo Patrone, the Vice President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). The visit was part of Patrone's working tour of the country, the government press service reports.
During the meeting, key issues of bilateral cooperation were discussed, as well as opportunities for implementing important projects in areas such as infrastructure, energy, and support for the private sector.
Kasymaliev noted that the EBRD plays an important role in supporting the socio-economic development of Kyrgyzstan, emphasizing the growth of the economy: in the first nine months of the current year, GDP increased by 10%. He also set an ambitious goal of reaching a GDP of 30 billion US dollars by 2030.
The head of the Cabinet of Ministers highlighted key areas of the National Development Program until 2030, including industrialization, the development of a regional hub, support for agriculture, tourism development, and a focus on green energy.
Among the most priority projects in the infrastructure sector were the construction of the China – Kyrgyzstan – Uzbekistan railway and the implementation of the Kambaratinskaya HPP-1 project, as well as other significant initiatives.
Matteo Patrone positively assessed the progress of economic development in Kyrgyzstan and noted the importance of the achieved results. He confirmed the EBRD's interest in further cooperation and expressed readiness to support the identified priority areas.
At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed to continue cooperation on all discussed issues.
