A new power limit has been set for citizens – up to 3 kW, which forces people to choose between using a washing machine and an electric kettle.
On November 5, the government approved a resolution regarding the efficient use of energy resources. Below are the key points of this document:
1. Ministries and various state institutions, including local administrations and state-owned enterprises, except for strategically important facilities, must:
- disconnect electricity supply from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM, and in educational institutions – from the end of the educational process until it begins (except for equipment necessary to maintain the functionality of buildings);
- install motion sensors in hallways and other non-working areas to automatically turn off lighting.
3. The Ministry of Energy, together with local authorities, must organize regular monitoring of the implementation of this order and submit a report to the president's administration every 15 days.
4. Control over the execution of the order is assigned to the department for monitoring the implementation of the decisions of the president and the cabinet of ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic.
