Deputy Bolot Ibragimov expressed dissatisfaction with the increased training time at a session of the Jogorku Kenesh on January 15. He believes that the real problem of high accident rates lies not in training but in corruption and insufficient state oversight.
His opinion was supported by Deputy Dastan Bekeshev, who reminded that in countries like Japan and the USA, training takes only about three months. Bekeshev fears that rising costs and prolonged training may lead Kyrgyz citizens to seek education in neighboring countries such as Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, which, instead of the expected increase in safety, could result in "educational tourism." At the same time, the Presidential Administration announced the start of student recruitment on January 19 through the "Tunduk" system. Currently, most driving schools in the capital are not enrolling students.
