Spine specialist and orthopedic surgeon Abai Niyazbekov emphasized on "Birinchi Radio" that performing massage on your own, without the appropriate knowledge, is highly discouraged. He explained that incorrect actions can lead to a worsening of the condition, such as a herniated disc, which in turn will intensify pain sensations.

According to Niyazbekov, one should avoid treatment from healers and chiropractors who do not have a medical education. He noted that such specialists often diagnose vertebral displacement based on palpation, which can be incorrect. A functional X-ray is necessary for accurate determination.

The doctor also pointed out that the main reason patients are currently seeking medical help is herniated discs in the cervical spine, while cases related to the thoracic spine are significantly rarer. Additionally, there is an increase in the number of spinal fractures caused by injuries sustained from sports activities and road accidents.

Niyazbekov explained that the vertebrae are connected by intervertebral discs, which receive adequate nutrition at a young age. However, after the age of 30, this nutrition decreases, and improper neck positioning leads to disc strain, which can cause a hernia.

“Our vertebrae are not designed to constantly hold the head forward. It should be aligned with the body. The intervertebral discs, which are made of cartilage, lose elasticity and can rupture if their nutrition is disrupted. This can lead to numbness and weakness in the arms when it comes to the cervical region,” the specialist explained.

The initial signs of neck diseases include muscle pain and can lead to headaches due to vessel compression. Since the nerves that branch from the cervical vertebrae go to the arms, patients may experience pain and numbness in their limbs.

If your work involves prolonged computer use, it is important to take breaks for rest and relaxation. The doctor also recommended engaging in fitness or swimming to activate all muscle groups.
