At a recent public discussion of the Bishkek general plan, Sergey Kim, a city activist, raised an important question about the protection of private property.

He pointed out that during previous meetings on this topic, officials tried to avoid discussing issues related to property expropriation.

Kim noted: "I am interested in what will happen to private property. At the last expert discussion, this question was ignored, despite the fact that it concerns many residents. Will the new general plan lead to conflicts with property owners?"

It is worth noting that most of the questions asked by residents were related to their personal property. It turned out that some residential areas were placed in the green zone, others in the red zone, and there are plans for the construction and expansion of roads. Residents were concerned about how this would affect their homes. Vice Mayor Azamat Kadyrov explained that if residential buildings fall into the green or red zones, property owners must provide all necessary documents to make changes to the general plan. The issue of compensation for plots designated for construction or road expansion will be regulated in accordance with current legislation.
