
The incident occurred on January 18 at 00:30 at the 7th border post "Khirmandzho," located in the Shamsiddin Shohin area. The militants, who crossed over from the village of Darbandak in Afghanistan's Badakhshan province, did not comply with the border guards' demands to surrender and began armed resistance. As a result of the confrontation, all four were eliminated, according to a press release from the border troops of the State Committee for National Security.
There is no information on casualties among Tajik border guards.
Several weapons were seized from the scene, including 3 Kalashnikov rifles and 1 "Kruz" rifle, as well as 6 magazines, 183 cartridges, 3 mobile phones, a radio, and a boat.
A criminal case has been initiated regarding the incident under articles 179 ("Terrorism"), 335 ("Illegal crossing of the state border of the Republic of Tajikistan"), and 195 ("Illegal acquisition, transfer to another's ownership, storage, transportation, carrying of weapons, ammunition, explosives, and explosive devices") of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Tajikistan. An investigation is underway.
The State Committee for National Security also emphasized that the situation at the state border with Afghanistan is under control, and all necessary resources and forces will be deployed to ensure security at the border.
